History was made by individuals of color at the 27 th yearly Screen Casts Guild Awards: All 4 film acting classifications went to people of color for the very first time ever.

The one-hour pre-taped program was transmitted Sunday, continuing the trend of non-traditional award reveals in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. The program included 13 awards given out by means of video chat, with quick acceptance speeches from each winner interspersed with brief anecdotes from numerous stars throughout.

This year, the statues for the 4 movie acting categories were won by Daniel Kaluuya, the late Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, and Youn Yuh-jung, making it the first time considering that the DROOP Awards began in 1995 that these 4 awards were all won by individuals of color.

Especially, if the Academy Awards ceremony does the same on April 25 and honors the quartet, it would be the most awards ever provided to people of color in a single event. A woman of color has not won the Oscar for lead actress before or given that Halle Berry in 2001 for “Beast’s Ball”; a male of color hasn’t won the Oscar for lead actor considering that 2006, when Forest Whitaker won it for “The Last King of Scotland.”
